Senior Headache and Migraine Consultant and Teacher,
Director of the Watson Headache Clinics, Sydney and Adelaide
Dr Dean Watson established the Watson Headache® Approach after accumulating unparalleled knowledge from 8000 headache and migraine (including ‘vestibular migraine’) patients over 22000 hours. Accordingly, the Watson Headache® Approach, a protocol for skilled assessment and management of the cranio vertebral segments, is recognised internationally for its unrivalled diagnostic accuracy, deploying its unique and most powerful feature – reproduction and resolution of accustomed head pain and / or symptoms. The Watson Headache® Approach has been substantiated by Dean’s recent groundbreaking PhD research which has demonstrated that the Approach desensitises a sensitised brainstem, the underlying disorder in headache and migraine conditions.
Dean is Founder and Director of the Watson Headache® institute and Watson Headache® Clinic and divides his time between teaching, research and clinical consulting. Dean holds a Diploma in Physiotherapy (1976), Graduate Diploma in Advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy (1983), Master Of Manipulative Therapy (by original research) (1991), and is nearing completion of his PhD in which he investigated the role of C1-3 afferents in the migraine process.
Dean has published in Cephalalgia and Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain and contributed chapters to key clinical texts.
