For Patients
Are you one of the many Australian adults who experience dizziness or vertigo? Around one in four report these symptoms in any given year, rising to more than one in three among those aged 50 and over. Contact for a consultation.
Initial consultations are normally one hour and subsequent consultations are normally thirty minutes. The Centre is open for appointments from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm. An after hour answering service is available for the convenience of patients and health professionals.
Our approach
The Centre uses objective assessment technology — including ICS Impulse software, infrared video oculography Frenzel goggles, video Head Impulse Testing, and virtual reality applications — for vestibular and balance rehabilitation, motion sickness and MdDS. Earlier, more precise diagnosis supports a rehabilitation programme tailored to your specific condition.
Vestibular disorders can affect everyday tasks like bathing, dressing, or simply moving around the home. Loss of confidence after a fall often leads to reduced physical activity, which can in turn increase the risk of further falls — vestibular rehabilitation aims to help break that cycle.
Walking poles, used correctly, are a well-supported form of physical activity for improving posture, walking tolerance, confidence, and fall-prevention factors. Professor Sharpe incorporates this approach in her own practice and can advise whether it may be suitable for you.
Balance is something most of us take for granted — automatically managed by the body from birth. When it’s disrupted, regaining it is possible at any age; it’s never too late to begin.
